Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengidentifikasi kesalahan siswa dalam menulis teks deskripsi dan menganalisis penyebab kesalahan siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif. Instrumen dalam penelitian ini adalah tes tertulis, observasi,dan wawancara guru bahasa Inggris. Subyek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VII tahunpelajaran 2021/2022 di MTs al-hikmah tanggulangin. Dari temuan tersebut, peneliti menemukan bahwa terdapat empat jenis kesalahan yaitu: omission, addition,
misformation, dan misordering. Temuan dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa siswa telah membuat kesalahan. Terdapat 54 kesalahan (54,5%) kesalahan penghilangan, 20 kesalahan (20,2%) kesalahan penambahan, 19 kesalahan (19,1%) kesalahan salah bentuk, dan 6 kesalahan (0,06%) kesalahan salah susun. Peneliti menyimpulkan bahwa jumlah error terbanyak adalah omission error dengan hasil 54,5%. Peneliti juga menyimpulkan bahwa penyebab kesalahan siswa saat menulis teks deskriptif adalah interlingual transferdan intralingual transfer.

The purpose of this research was to identify students’ errors in writing descriptive textand analyze the causes of students’ errors. This research used the descriptive qualitativemethod. The instruments in this research were written tests, observation, and English teacher interviews. The subject of this research is seventh-grade in the academic year 2021/2022 at the MTs al hikmah tanggulangin. From the findings, the researcher found
= that there were four types of errors, namely: omission, addition, misformation, and misordering. The findings of this research indicate that students have made errors. There
are 54 errors (54,5%) omission errors, 20 errors (20,2%) addition errors, 19 errors (19,1%) misformation errors, and 6 errors (0,06%) misordering errors.The researcher concluded
that the highest number of errors was omission error with a result of 54,5%. The researcher also concluded that the causes of students’ errors when writing descriptive texts were interlingual transfer and intralingual transfer.
