Abstract

Penelitian ini didasarkan pada rendahnya kemampuan pemahaman membaca siswa, yang disebabkan model pembelajaran yang kurang menarik sehingga siswa kesulitan merangkai kata-kata menjadi kalimat utuh dalam menyimpulkan inti dari bacaan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh model Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) terhadap kemampuan membaca siswa pada mata pelajaran Bahasa Indonesia kelas IV di SDN Keboangung 1. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan jenis Quasi Experimental Design. Rancangan penelitian ini menggunakan Pretest Posttest Control Group Design. Sampel penelitian berjumlah 54 siswa yang terdiri dari kelas IV A berjumlah 28 siswa sebagai kelas eksperimen dan kelas IV B berjumlah 26 siswa sebagai kelas kontrol. Data dikumpulkan melalui tes yang terdiri dari pretest dan posttest, kemudian dianalisis menggunakan uji normalitas, homogenitas, serta uji hipotesis dengan rumus Independent Sample T-Test. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya pengaruh yang signifikan penggunaan media CIRC terhadap kemampuan membaca siswa. Hal ini dibuktikan dengan hasil rata-rata skor pretest kelas eksperimen sebesar 35,88 dan skor rata-rata posttest sebesar 67,88 dengan rata-rata selisih sebesar 16,32. Sedangkan, pada kelas kontrol rata-rata skor pretest sebesar 55,34 dan skor rata-rata posttest sebesar 60,81 dengan selisih 5,47. Hal ini diperkuat dengan hasil uji hipotesis dengan rumus Independent sample t test menunjukkan nilai signifikansi 0,762(< 0,05) dengan nilai t hitung sebesar 0,348, yang berarti terdapat pengaruh signifikan. Dengan demikian, media CIRC efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan membaca siswa pada mata pelajaran Bahasa Indonesia, khususnya pada materi suku kata di kelas IV SDN Kebonagung 1.

This study is based on the low reading comprehension ability of students, which is caused by the less interesting learning model so that students have difficulty in arranging words into complete sentences in concluding the essence of the reading. This study aims to analyze the effect of the Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) model on students' reading ability in the Indonesian language subject of grade IV at SDN Keboangung 1. This study uses a quantitative approach with a Quasi Experimental Design type. This research design uses Pretest Posttest
Control Group Design. The research sample consisted of 54 students consisting of class IV A totaling 28 students as the experimental class and class IV B totaling 26 students as the control class. Data were collected through tests consisting of pretest and posttest, then analyzed using normality tests, homogeneity, and hypothesis
testing with the Independent Sample T-Test formula. The results of the study showed a significant effect of the use of CIRC media on students' reading ability. This is
evidenced by the results of the average pretest score of the experimental class of 35.88 and the average posttest score of 67.88 with an average difference of 16.32. Meanwhile, in the control class, the average pretest score was 55.34 and the average posttest score was 60.81 with a difference of 5.47. This is reinforced by the results of the hypothesis test with the Independent sample t-test formula showing a
significance value of 0.762 (<0.05) with a calculated t value of -0.348, which means there is a significant effect. Thus, CIRC media is effective in improving students' reading skills in Indonesian subjects, especially in syllable material in grade IV of SDN Kebonagung 1.
