Abstract

This development research aims to develop an interactive PowerPoint for teaching descriptive text at 7th grade students, which can improve students’ understanding of descriptive text material. The background of this research is the lack of digital technology use in English language learning in the current digital era, so it is necessary to develop more effective and efficient digital learning media. The purpose of this research is to describe the process and results of developing a valid, practical, and effective interactive PowerPoint through the ADDIE development model (Analysis, Design, Develop, Implementation, and Evaluate). The research stages include analyzing students need and curriculum, designing interactive PowerPoint, developing interactive PowerPoint, implementing interactive PowerPoint in the field, and evaluating. The targeted output of this research is an interactive PowerPoint learning media that can be used to improve students’ understanding of descriptive text, enabling them to write descriptive text well, and contributing to the field of education, especially English language learning. This research is expected to improve students’ understanding of descriptive text, enabling them to write descriptive text well, and providing benefits for educators and students. The media validation results obtained a score percentage of 90%, which falls into the excellent category. Similarly, the material validation results obtained a score percentage of 100%, which is also categorized as excellent. Both media and material validators stated that the interactive PowerPoint media is valid to be used for teaching descriptive txt to 7th grade students. In addition, the responses from the English teacher and the 7th grade students showed positive feedback towards the implementation of the interactive PowerPoint media in teaching descriptive text.
