ANALISIS MATH ANXIETY PADA PEMBELAJARAN MATEMATIKA BANGUN DATAR SISWA KELAS 2B MI AT TAQWA KEBONAGUNG KECAMATAN SUKODONO KABUPATEN SIDOARJO

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis tingkat math anxiety yang dialami siswa kelas II pada mata pelajaran Matematika khususnya pada materi bangun datar di MI AT-TAQWA Kebonagung Kecamatan Sukodono Kabupaten Sidoarjo. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode wawancara mendalam, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Subjek penelitian terdiri atas 34 siswa kelas II dengan lima siswa sebagai informan utama yang dipilih secara purposive. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tingkat math anxiety siswa kelas II tergolong tinggi. Hal ini terlihat dari berbagai indikator, di antaranya perasaan takut dan cemas saat mengerjakan soal matematika, respon fisik seperti sakit perut atau berkeringat ketika guru bertanya, serta respon emosional seperti bingung, diam, hingga menangis ketika tidak mampu menyelesaikan soal. Faktor-faktor yang memicu math anxiety meliputi ketakutan membuat kesalahan di depan kelas, kesulitan memahami soal cerita maupun soal bergambar, serta tekanan untuk menyelesaikan soal dengan cepat. Math anxiety yang tinggi ini berdampak signifikan terhadap proses dan hasil belajar, terlihat dari kecenderungan siswa mengerjakan soal secara tergesa-gesa, menghindar dari pertanyaan guru, serta rendahnya partisipasi aktif dalam pembelajaran. Temuan penelitian ini mengimplikasikan perlunya strategi pembelajaran yang lebih mendukung, seperti penggunaan media interaktif, pendekatan yang menenangkan, dan pemberian motivasi untuk menurunkan tingkat kecemasan matematika pada siswa sejak dini.

“An Analysis of Math Anxiety Among Second-Grade Students in Mathematics Learning on Plane Shapes at MI At-Taqwa Kebonagung, Sukodono District, Sidoarjo Regency” This study aims to analyze the level of math anxiety experienced by second-grade students in the subject of Mathematics, specifically on the topic of plane shapes, at MI At-Taqwa Kebonagung, Sukodono District, Sidoarjo. This research employed a qualitative approach using in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation. The research subjects consisted of 30 second-grade students, with five students selected purposively as key informants. The findings revealed that the level of math anxiety among the students was high. This was evident through various indicators, including feelings of fear and nervousness when working on math problems, physical responses such as stomach aches or sweating when questioned by the teacher, and emotional reactions such as confusion, silence, or even crying when unable to solve problems. Factors triggering math anxiety included fear of making mistakes in front of the class, difficulty in understanding word problems and visual tasks, and pressure to complete problems quickly. The high level of math anxiety significantly affected the students’ learning process and outcomes, as shown by their tendency to work hastily, avoid teachers’ questions, and show low active participation during lessons. These findings imply the need for more supportive learning strategies, such as the use of interactive media, calming approaches, and motivational reinforcement to reduce students’ math anxiety from an early age.
