Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisa kesalahan siswa pada narrative teks dan mencari tahu apa sumber kesalahan siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif. Instrumen dalam penelitian ini adalah tes tulis dan interview guru bahasa inggris. Subjek penelitian ini adalah kelas 10 IPA tahun ajaran 2021/2022 di MA Bilingual Muslimat NU Sidoarjo. Dari hasil temuan, peneliti menemukan ada empat jenis kesalahan yaitu : omission, addition, misformation, misodering. Temuan penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa siswa telah melakukan kesalahan. Terdapat 178 kesalahan omission (38,7%), 118 kesalahan addition (25,7%), 158 kesalahan misformation (34,3%), dan 6 kesalahan misordering (1,3%). Peneliti menyimpulkan bahwa jumlah kesalahan tertinggi adalah omission dengan hasil 38,7%. Peneliti juga menyimpulkan bahwa sumber kesalahan siswa saat menulis teks naratif adalah transfer interlingual dan transfer intralingual.

The purpose of this research was to identify students’ errors in narrative texts and analyze the sources of students’ errors. This research used the descriptive
qualitative method. The instruments in this research were written tests and English teacher interviews. The subject of this research is 10th -grade science in the academic
year 2021/2022 at the MA Bilingual Muslimat NU Sidoarjo. From the findings, the researcher found that there were four types of errors, namely: omission, addition, misformation, and misordering. The findings of this research indicate that students have made errors. There were 178 errors (38.7%) omission errors, 118 errors (25.7%) addition errors, 158 errors (34.3%) misformation errors, and 6 errors (1.3%) misordering errors. The researcher concluded that the highest number of errors was omission error with a result of 38.7%. The researcher also concluded that the sources of students’ errors when writing narrative texts were interlingual transfer and intralingual transfer.
