Abstract

This research is motivated by the problem that mathematics learning outcomes are still low as evidenced by data from interviews and observations. This study aims to determine the effect of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model on student learning outcomes for class V mathematics at SDN Pilang 1. This study uses an experimental method of Quasi-experimental type with Non-equivalent control group design type. The population in this study were all fifth grade students of SDN Pilang 1 as many as 56 students. The sample of this study was students of class VA as the control class while VB as the experimental class. Collecting data in each
class using a pre-test and post-test in the form of 7 essay questions. Then the results were analyzed using the computer program IBM SPSS Statistics 23 for Windows. The results showed that the problem based learning model had a significant effect on the mathematics learning outcomes of fifth graders at SDN Pilang 1. This was indicated by the value of Sig. (2-tailed) < 0.05 i.e. 0.003. So that H0 is rejected, H1 is accepted. In other words, it justifies the hypothesis that the problem-based learning model has a significant effect on student learning outcomes. The effect of using the problem based learning model on studentlearning outcomes in mathematics is quite large with the acquisition of M = 5,357, SE = 1,740, df = 54, and t = 3,078
