Abstract

Penelitian ini membahas penerapan pembelajaran berdiferensiasi dalam mata pelajaran Bahasa Inggris bagi siswa kelas tujuh di Sekolah Menengah Pertama Islam Al-Chusnaini di Sukodono, Sidoarjo. Penelitian ini juga menguji perspektif baik dari guru maupun siswa mengenai penerapan instruksi berdiferensiasi di dalam kelas. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah pendekatan kualitatif dengan melibatkan guru dan siswa sebagai subjek penelitian. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara, observasi, dokumentasi, dan kuesioner yang relevan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa guru memberikan proses pembelajaran yang seragam kepada semua siswa tanpa adanya diferensiasi, namun memberikan kebebasan kepada siswa untuk memilih tugas berdasarkan minat pribadi mereka. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa siswa hanya menghasilkan satu jenis produk, yaitu bentuk teks. Namun demikian, baik guru maupun siswa menyatakan pandangan positif mengenai pembelajaran yang berdiferensiasi. Penelitian ini merekomendasikan agar guru memperoleh pemahaman yang lebih mendalam dan menerapkan diferensiasi dalam semua aspek proses pembelajaran, termasuk perencanaan, pengajaran, dan kegiatan di kelas. Guru sebaiknya menyesuaikan materi, metode, dan evaluasi suitable dengan kebutuhan dan kemampuan individual siswa. Selain itu, disarankan bagi peneliti di masa depan untuk melakukan studi yang lebih komprehensif mengenai implementasi holistik dari instruksi berdiferensiasi, yang melibatkan sampel subjek penelitian yang lebih besar.

This research discusses the implementation of differentiated instruction in English subjects for seventh-grade students at Al-Chusnaini Islamic Junior High School in Sukodono, Sidoarjo. The research also examines the perspectives of both teacher and students regarding the implementation of differentiated instruction in their classrooms. The research used a qualitative approach involving teachers and students as the research subjects. Data were collected through interviews, observations, documentation, and relevant questionnaires. The findings indicate that the teacher provides the same learning process to all students without
differentiation but allows students to choose tasks based on their interests. The research result shows that students only produce one type of product: textual form.
However, both teachers and students express positive perspectives on differentiated instruction. The research recommends that teachers acquire a deeper understanding and implement differentiation in all aspects of the learning process, including planning, teaching, and classroom activities. The teacher should adjust the materials, methods, and evaluations according to students’ needs and abilities. Furthermore, future researchers are encouraged to conduct more comprehensive studies on the holistic implementation of differentiated instruction involving a larger sample of research subjects.
