Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisa kesalahan siswa pada descriptive teks dan mencari tahu apa penyebab kesalahan siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif. Instrumen dalam penelitian ini adalah testulis, observasi, dan interview guru bahasa inggris. Subjek penelitian ini adalah kelas X IPA tahun ajaran 2022/2023 di MA Manbaul Hikam Tanggulangin. Dari hasil temuan, peneliti menemukan ada lima jenis kesalahan yaitu : omission, addition, misformation, misodering dan blend. Temuan penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa siswa telah melakukan kesalahan. Terdapat 27 kesalahan omission (24.3%), 41 kesalahan addition (36.9%), 30 kesalahan misformation (27.0%), 7 kesalahan misordering (06.3%), dan 6 kesalahan blend (05.5%). Peneliti menyimpulkan bahwa jumlah kesalahan tertinggi adalah addition dengan hasil 36.9%. Peneliti juga menyimpulkan bahwa penyebab kesalahan siswa saat menulis teks descriptive adalah transfer interlingual dan transfer
intralingual.

The purpose of this research was to identify students’ errors in descriptive texts and analyze the causes of students’ errors. This research used the descriptive qualitative method. The instruments in this research
were written tests, observation, and English teacher interviews. The subject of thisresearch is X grade science inthe academic year 2022/2023 at the MA Manbaul Hikam Tanggulangin. From thefindings, the researcher found that there were five types of errors, namely: omission, addition,
misformation, misordering and blend. The findings of this research indicate that students have made errors. There were 27 errors (24.3%) omission errors, 41 errors (36.9%) addition errors, 30 errors (27.0%) misformation errors,7 errors (06.3%) misordering errors, and 6 errors (05.5%) blend errors. The researcher concluded that the highest number of errors was addition error with a result of 36.9%. The researcher also concluded that the causes of students’ errors when writing descriptive texts were interlingual transfer and intralingual transfer.
