Abstract
Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mendeskripsikan faktor internal dan eksternal penyebab rendahnya minat membaca siswa kelas V SD plus Cahaya Budaya Kecamatan Krembung Kabupaten Sidoarjo. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif. Subjek penelitian terdiri dari 17 siswa kelas V, guru, dan lima orang tua siswa. Metode pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Uji keabsahaan data menggunakan triangulasi sumber dan triangulasi teknik. Teknik analisis data menggunakan analisis deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Rata-rata siswa masih mengalami kesulitan dalam memahami makna bacaan. a) kurangnya kebiasaan membaca yaitu tidak meluangkan waktu untuk membaca, membaca atas perintah guru atau orang tua sebanyak 17 siswa. Siswa jarang mengunjungi perpustakaan, dan belum memiliki insiatif untuk mencari bacaan. b) Faktor eksternal penyebab rendahnya minat membaca terdiri dari: 1) lingkungan sekolah kurang mendukung yaitu budaya membaca di sekolah masih rendah, program literasi belum berjalan maksimal, tidak ada slogan membaca, dan mading jarang diperbarui. 2) Sekolah tidak memiliki tempat khusus untuk membaca selain di kelas,pembelajaran yang diterapkan guru.

The purpose of this study was to describe the internal and external factors causing the low interest in reading for fifth grade students of Elementary School plus Cahaya Budaya, Krembung District, Sidoarjo Regency. This research is a descriptive research. The research subjects consisted of 17 fifth grade students, teachers, and five parents.
Methods of data collection is done by observation, interviews, and documentation. Test the validity of the data using source triangulation and technique triangulation. The data analysis technique uses descriptive qualitative analysis. The results of the study show that on average students still experience difficulties in understanding the meaning of reading. a) lack of reading habits, namely not taking the time to read, reading at the behest of the teacher or parents as many as 17 students. Students rarely visit the library, and do not have the initiative to look for reading. b) External factors causing low interest in reading consist of: 1) the school environment is not supportive, namely the reading culture in schools is still low, literacy programs have not run optimally, there are no reading slogans, and magazines are rarely updated. 2) The school does not have a special place for reading other than in class, the learning that is applied by the teacher.
